The Committee
The Rugby League Lions Association is led by a committee of former players, coaches and administrators who have given many years of service to the game and to Great Britain Rugby League.
Committee Members
Brian Noble OBE
Chairman
Brian was capped 11 times by Great Britain and captained the 1984 Lions tour. He made over 400 career appearances, predominantly at hooker, including 392 for Bradford with whom he had a hugely successful coaching career. Brian also coached Great Britain between 2004 and 2006.
Joe Lydon
Joe gained 30 Great Britain caps and was selected for three Lions tours in 1984, 1990 and 1992. A hugely talented three-quarter, Joe scored 151 tries during a 12-year career with Widnes, Wigan and Eastern Suburbs. Since retiring he has worked for both the RFL and RFU.
David Lyon
David spent much of his career at full-back with Widnes, Warrington and St Helens and was a member of the 1990 Lions tour of New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. He was Great Britain’s assistant coach under Brian Noble during the 2006 Tri-Nations tournament Down Under.
Chris Joynt
Wigan-born Chris began his career at Oldham but enjoyed most success as a world class back row with St Helens, who he captained between 1997 and 2003. He gained 25 caps for Great Britain and was selected for two Lions tours, the 1996 Great Britain tour to Papua New Guinea, Fiji and New Zealand and the 1999 Tri-Nations.
Adrian Morley
Adrian is the most-capped British player of all time, with 53 caps for England and Great Britain. He was selected for five tours – 1996, 1999, 2006, 2008 and 2010 – and was inducted into the RL Hall of Fame in 2022. A Grand Final winner in both Super League and the NRL, Adrian captained Warrington to three Challenge Cup final wins.
Jamie Peacock MBE
In a stellar career with Bradford and Leeds, Jamie won an incredible nine Super League Grand Finals, four Challenge Cup finals and four World Club Challenge titles. He was capped 26 times by Great Britain and made 21 appearances for England, captaining both with distinction. Jamie was inducted into the RL Hall of Fame in 2024.
John Ledger
Secretary
John was rugby league correspondent for the Yorkshire Post before heading up the RFL’s communications team in 2009. He was England’s media manager on the 2010 Four Nations in Australia and New Zealand and spent 10 years as communications manager for Rugby League Cares. John has been the Association’s secretary since 2016.
Kevin Ellis
Kevin combined playing Rugby League at Keighley, Doncaster & Dewsbury alongside a career in Marketing and Design. He represented Great Britain Students against France and in 2018 formed the rugby heritage clothing brand Ellis Rugby. The company has sponsored the Rugby League Lions Association Lunch over the last six years.
