The 1990 Lions faced some of the toughest conditions New Zealand could throw at them when they faced a Taranaki Invitation XIII in New Plymouth.
Leading 8-0 at the interval, the tourists ground out a 24-0 victory with second half tries from Lion number 456 David Lyon, Lion number 422 Karl Fairbank and Lion number 453 Shaun Irwin.
The match also featured a terrific tackle by Lion number 449 Paul Eastwood — who said wingers can’t tackle?!
