The 1936 Lions lost only three of 22 games played on tour, including a 24-8 defeat by Australia in the first Ashes Test in Sydney.
Following that result, the tourists went on to win their next 15 games – the second and third Tests were both won by the same scoreline, 12-7, before they crossed the Tasman Sea to beat New Zealand 10-8 and 23-11.
In the third Ashes Test, the Lions fielded five Salford backs – Gus Risman, Barney Hudson, Alan Edwards, Emlyn Jenkins and Billy Watkins.
