BRING BACK GREAT BRITAIN
Sign the petition
The Rugby League Lions Association is calling on the Rugby Football League to restore Great Britain to its rightful place as the name of the national team.
The Lions are also asking people across the world to show their support for this important campaign by signing our petition, which will be presented to the RFL later this year.
Decades of proud tradition were abandoned in 2008 when the Great Britain ‘brand’ was shelved in favour of separate identities for the home nations ahead of that year’s World Cup.
Since then, other than a brief tour of the southern hemisphere in 2019, the Great Britain rugby league team has been sadly absent from the sporting world.
This has meant that for almost two decades, world class players with Welsh, Scottish and Irish heritage have been denied the chance to play rugby league at the highest level.
The Association is fully supportive of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland team competing in World Cup tournaments but is urging the RFL to recognise the prestige, history and pride of Great Britain, a team the whole country can get behind.
